Dentures
Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth and surrounding tissues.
There are two types of dentures. Complete dentures are used to replace all of a patient’s teeth. Partial dentures are used to replace some teeth, and will be used when there are some natural teeth remaining. A patient being fitted with a denture will first have an impression taken of their mouth so the denture can be made to fit the appropriate area exactly. In some cases, a dentist may recommend a patient have immediate dentures. This occurs where a patient has some natural teeth remaining that will be removed for the dentures. The impression of the patient’s mouth is taken before the teeth are removed, so the dentures can be ready to put in at the same time the patient has the remaining teeth removed. By placing dentures in right after teeth are extracted, the patient does not have to spend any time without teeth.

Denture Soft Liner
A soft liner is a layer of soft material, placed between the surface of a denture and a patient’s oral tissues. A patient may require a soft liner to improve gum health: acts such as chewing create pressure on the gums and a soft liner will absorb some of this pressure. A patient may also require a soft liner to improve the retention of dentures: the use of the soft material provides less irritation to a patient than a harder material.
